This weekend in the Premier League, a notable incident sparked discussions: referee Chris Kavanagh’s decision to disallow Liverpool’s equalizer against Manchester City. Although subjective, it wasn’t a clear and obvious error.
To recap: Virgil van Dijk scores with a header from a corner, and assistant referee Stuart Burt calls offside. Andy Robertson, in the goal area, is the offside player. When Van Dijk heads the ball, Robertson is near the goalkeeper. As the ball approaches him, he moves left and forward, ducks as it nears, and the ball goes into the net.
