Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been placed in a medically induced coma as part of his recovery process following emergency abdominal surgery. The 27-year-old Nigeria international underwent the operation on Monday night after sustaining a significant injury during Sunday’s 2-2 Premier League draw against Leicester City.
Despite the seriousness of the procedure, Awoniyi’s condition is not believed to be life-threatening. Medical professionals determined that placing him in a coma would assist in minimizing movement and stabilizing his heart rate, both critical to his healing process.
The club and supporters remain hopeful for a full and swift recovery.
