Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been placed in an induced coma following emergency abdominal surgery, according to reports. The 27-year-old Nigerian international underwent the operation on Monday night after sustaining a serious injury during Forest’s 2-2 draw against Leicester the previous day.
While the situation is being closely monitored, Awoniyi’s condition is not believed to be life-threatening. The medically induced coma is intended to aid his recovery by limiting physical movement and helping to regulate his heart rate as he heals.
