Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been placed in an induced coma as part of his recovery following emergency abdominal surgery. The 27-year-old Nigeria international underwent the operation on Monday night after sustaining a serious injury during Forest’s 2-2 draw with Leicester on Sunday.
Medical professionals made the decision to induce the coma to help stabilize Awoniyi’s condition, limiting his physical movement and maintaining a steady heart rate during the critical recovery period. Although the situation is being treated with caution, his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
