The Norwegian’s incredible goal-scoring achievements have become so massive they’re almost beyond mention, but at least he now does it with a smile.

With 27 minutes played and Manchester City leading 1-0, Erling Haaland did something extraordinary and amusing. Strolling away from a central free-kick with feigned indifference, Haaland turned, took the ball, and charged directly at the Borussia Dortmund defense, dragging two desperate yellow-shirted players who were struggling and firing ineffective attempts to stop the formidable force ahead.

This was not an uncontrolled move. It was a calculated act of aggression by Haaland, applying superior force (essentially, me) to a point of vulnerability (that would be: all of you). Eventually, the ball broke free to Nico O’Reilly, completely unguarded, as the entire Dortmund defense followed in Haaland’s path, now clearly in need of a bigger solution.
