Coventry City fans celebrated as their team returned to the top of the Championship, silencing critics of Frank Lampard and his squad. Haji Wright’s crucial hat-trick helped Coventry reclaim the top spot from Middlesbrough, ending their six-game winning streak. Although Riley McGree scored for Middlesbrough midway through the second half, a penalty shortly after allowed Wright to complete his hat-trick. Coventry’s lead is narrow at just one point, but this victory felt significant psychologically, having secured only 16 points from the prior 39 available.
