Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert recently had surgery on his broken left hand. He is considered day-to-day leading up to Week 14’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The injury occurred in the first quarter against the Las Vegas Raiders when safety Jeremy Chinn’s helmet struck Herbert’s hand. Despite the injury, Herbert stayed in the game and threw a touchdown to Quentin Johnston on the next play. He later left the game briefly to receive a hard cast and glove for his hand and finished 15-of-21 for 151 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in their 31-14 victory. Although Herbert didn’t practice Wednesday, head coach Jim Harbaugh remains hopeful about his participation against the Eagles. “He hasn’t missed a beat. Everybody back today, meetings and out on the field for walk-through,” Harbaugh stated. Herbert is having a strong season, ranking eighth in passing yards with 2,842, sixth in touchdown passes with 21, and has a 94.9 passer rating. The Chargers, currently 8-4 and in fifth place in the playoff race, have won four of their last five games. If Herbert can’t play, Trey Lance may start.
