Sweden’s gambling authority, Spelinspektionen, has announced that Satoshi Gaming Group, operating without a license, has been expelled from the Swedish market.
Satoshi Gaming Group, known for its crypto casino and sportsbook platforms, has been barred from offering gambling services to Swedish players. The ban is a result of an investigation by Spelinspektionen, which found the company violating Swedish gambling laws. This decision highlights the regulator’s commitment to enhancing market oversight and eliminating unlicensed operators.
This action is part of a wider regulatory crackdown in Sweden. In February, the Swedish Trade Association for Online Gambling (BOS) urged the Ministry of Finance to amend the Gambling Act to address a loophole allowing offshore operators to target Swedish consumers without regulation.
In March, a report by AB Trav och Galopp (ATG) emphasized the rising presence of unlicensed betting platforms in Sweden, calling for stronger governmental measures to tackle the black-market threat.
In response, Spelinspektionen released a detailed report in April, proposing actions to close the legal gaps identified by BOS. The report examined the extent of Sweden’s online black market and suggested legislative reforms to bolster national enforcement.
Since April, Spelinspektionen has been active in scrutinizing other companies operating in Sweden. Recently, operators like Snabbare Ltd and Betsson Nordic Ltd have come under the regulator’s scrutiny.
