I favor THE JUKEBOX KID in this opener. He was victorious in his only point and won his rules debut at Uttoxeter in March. Though he didn’t replicate that form at Ayr in April, his potential is evident, and an initial mark of 122 appears generous. He seems like a significant contender.
Tips: THE JUKEBOX KID
13.02 PricedUp Novices’ Hurdle
TORMUND GIANTSBANE, a hurdle newcomer, has a strong chance. He won his debut at Worcester and was narrowly beaten at Warwick, preventing an unbeaten record. Despite the break, connections will ensure he’s ready, and he should be impactful with a clean run.
Tips: TORMUND GIANTSBANE
13.32 PricedUp.Bet Houghton Mares’ Chase
The Mares’ Listed Chase is intriguing, particularly with Telepathique’s return. However, I find PAGGANE more appealing at the odds. Faye Bramley’s runner was consistent under former trainer Willie Mullins and has performed well in three starts for this yard, including a solid second in the Silver Trophy recently.
Tips: PAGGANE
14.02 Stephex Trucks UK Castletown Handicap Hurdle
I’m backing Olly Murphy’s KAPAL LAYAR. He showed significant improvement last season, winning his last two races impressively. Although he’s nine pounds above his last win at Perth, there’s likely more to come, and he has the potential to rise further.
Tips: KAPAL LAYAR
14.37 Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase
HANDSTANDS remains unbeaten over fences and this Grade 1-winning chaser will probably outpace Resplendent Grey. Though the latter is respected, he has a 10lb deficit against Ben Pauling’s runner, who looks better suited to the distance.
Tips: HANDSTANDS
15.12 PricedUp Cumberland Handicap Chase
This race is wide open, but INIS OIRR is highly capable at his best. He is 2lb lower than when he easily won the Edinburgh National last year. With a good mark and assured fitness following a recent neck-second here, the eight-year-old is poised to play a key role.
Tips: INIS OIRR
