James Trafford among changes for Cup visit of Brentford
Guardiola has learned lesson from Leverkusen defeat
Pep Guardiola has announced he will introduce changes for Manchester City’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Brentford, ensuring a “father figure” is present to avoid the mistake made in the Bayer Leverkusen defeat last month.
In the previous match, Guardiola made 10 changes for the 2-0 Champions League group stage match loss at the Etihad Stadium, a first in his career. Nico González was the only player retained from the 2-1 loss at Newcastle three days before. James Trafford is set to start in goal on Wednesday evening against Keith Andrews’ team, alongside those who did not play in the 3-0 victory at Crystal Palace on Sunday, and some academy players. A senior player will be included to offer leadership.
