James Trafford among changes for Cup visit of Brentford
Guardiola has learned lesson from Leverkusen defeat
Pep Guardiola plans to make adjustments for Manchester City’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Brentford, incorporating a “father figure” to prevent a repeat of last month’s loss to Bayer Leverkusen.
In the Champions League group stage, Guardiola made 10 changes for the 2-0 defeat at Etihad Stadium, a first in his career. Only Nico González remained from the previous 2-1 loss at Newcastle. For Wednesday’s match against Keith Andrews’ team, James Trafford will start in goal, alongside players absent from Sunday’s 3-0 win at Crystal Palace and some academy members, with a senior player included for leadership.
