**Strong Performance Across All Segments**
Retail slots were the largest contributor at $224.9 million, up 5.0% year-over-year. iGaming slots rose by 39.6% to $177.2 million. Internet table games added $52.9 million, a 17.8% increase, and online poker brought in $2.8 million, up 20.9%. Video gaming terminals and fantasy contests experienced small declines of 0.1% and 5.4%, respectively.
**Sports Wagering Posts the Biggest Year-Over-Year Gain**
Sports wagering handled nearly $655.4 million in May, 10.7% more than the previous May, generating taxable revenue of $59.4 million, a 34.4% rise compared to May 2024. This category achieved the highest growth rate, reflecting the ongoing expansion of retail and online sportsbooks in the state.
**Tax Receipts and Future Outlook**
Preliminary tax collections from May gaming revenue amounted to approximately $255 million. With sports wagering, particularly online, fueling recent momentum, Pennsylvania’s gaming industry seems poised for steady growth into the summer sports season.
With events like MLB trade drama, NFL training camps, and soccer’s Copa América stimulating interest, Pennsylvania’s sportsbooks continue to thrive. The state collected $21.3 million in sports betting taxes in May, supporting infrastructure, education, and community programs statewide.
