Paquetá criticizes lack of support during spot-fixing case
‘It’s ridiculous to have your life affected for two years’
West Ham’s Lucas Paquetá expressed frustration over the absence of “psychological support” from football authorities following his unusual sending-off during his team’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool.
The 28-year-old midfielder, who endured a two-year uncertainty due to a Football Association investigation into spot-fixing claims, received two quick yellow cards for dissent from referee Darren England. Despite efforts from players on both teams to de-escalate the situation after the first caution, Paquetá approached the official again and was subsequently sent off.
