EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — Despite Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)’s success over the last 100 days, their manager, Luis Enrique, seemingly struggled with losing graciously. After Chelsea’s unexpected 3-0 victory against PSG, who had secured Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the UEFA Champions League between April and May, Enrique hit Chelsea’s Joao Pedro in the face while attempting to grab his throat, leading to a post-match brawl at midfield. Joao Pedro, Chelsea’s recent acquisition from Brighton, who had scored twice in the semifinal against Fluminense before sealing the game in the 43rd minute, fell in pain but exaggerated the incident. Enrique was held back by his team members as Gianluigi Donnarumma, PSG’s goalkeeper, was surrounded by Chelsea players. The teams were separated before the trophy ceremony, where Chelsea honored PSG with a guard of honor as they received their runner-up medals.
