Brentford continue to excel despite changes in management and players.
During a rapidly changing news cycle, it’s important to recall Brentford’s position last summer. They had parted ways with their successful manager of seven years, Thomas Frank, and had also lost key players like forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, goalkeeper Mark Flekken, and veterans Christian Nørgaard and Ben Mee, with his contributions reduced as he reached 35. For a club like Brentford, such turnover is inevitable, yet this was a substantial challenge.
Assessing their summer acquisitions was difficult. Typically, if Brentford signs a recognizable name, something might be amiss. However, Caoimhín Kelleher’s abilities are apparent, and his £13m fee is reasonable for a Premier League-experienced goalkeeper. Dango Ouattara had proven his versatility and effectiveness at Bournemouth. In contrast, Antoni Milambo, Michael Kayode, and Kaye Furo were largely unknown.
