Jarrett Allen's Injury Poses Challenge for Cavaliers - SCCG Management

Cleveland Cavaliers’ big man Jarrett Allen has suffered a broken left ring finger, adding to the team’s injury woes. The injury happened in Wednesday’s loss to the Boston Celtics. An X-ray on Thursday showed a non-displaced fracture, and the Cavaliers plan to treat it cautiously. Allen missed Friday’s game against the Toronto Raptors and is expected to sit out Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks. So far, Allen is averaging 14.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.4 steals, with a shooting rate of 57.5 percent over 27.0 minutes per game.

Meanwhile, star guard Donovan Mitchell may also miss time after leaving Wednesday’s game against the Celtics due to left hamstring tightness. Mitchell has started the season strong, averaging 28.0 points and 4.4 assists, with shooting percentages of 54.4 from the field and 40.0 from three-point range. Before the game against the Celtics, he scored 20 or more points in each game and reached at least 30 points three times.

The Cavaliers are dealing with injuries to key players, including starting point guard Darius Garland (toe) and forward Max Strus (foot), who are still recovering from offseason surgeries. As they prepare for Sunday’s game against the Hawks, Cleveland holds a 3-3 record.
