The New York Mets placed starting pitcher Griffin Canning on the 60-day injured list after he suffered a ruptured Achilles during his start against the Atlanta Braves. Blade Tidwell was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to fill his roster spot. Canning was having one of his best seasons, recording a 3.77 ERA in 16 starts after struggling with the Los Angeles Angels last year. The Mets’ rotation is already strained, with Kodai Senga and Tylor Megill injured and Sean Manaea set to debut soon after an oblique injury. Frankie Montas recently returned from a lat issue, making his season debut against the Braves.
