When Thomas Frank views Nuno Espírito Santo from the sidelines on Saturday, more than just a specter of former Tottenham managers will appear. In his most challenging moments—and there have been quite a few in his tumultuous first season at the club—he may also glimpse a reflection of his own potential future.
The similarities between the two are stark, especially as Nuno returns to Spurs with West Ham, eager for a victory to elevate the team from relegation danger. Nuno came to Spurs in 2021 as a manager renowned in English football with Wolves, having promoted them from the Championship and achieving top-flight success. Frank experienced a similar journey with Brentford before moving to Spurs last summer.
