FanDuel To Ban Credit Card Deposits Nationwide in March 2026

Beginning March 2, 2026, FanDuel Sportsbook will no longer accept credit card deposits for its sportsbook, casino, or racing products across the country. The move, which was communicated to users via account notifications earlier this week, marks a major shift for the industry giant as it aligns its national policy with stricter regulations already seen in five individual states: Illinois, Massachusetts, Vermont, Tennessee, and Connecticut.

A Full National Rollout

In those five jurisdictions, Illinois, Massachusetts, Vermont, Tennessee, and Connecticut, state law or regulatory pressure forced operators to block credit-funded wagering to curb problem gambling and prevent players from accumulating debt.

The nationwide ban is comprehensive. It applies not just to direct credit card transactions, but also to credit cards linked through third-party payment processors like Venmo, PayPal, and Apple Pay. Users will still be permitted to fund their accounts via debit cards, online banking, and direct wire transfers.

Impact on the Market

For the average bettor, the change may require a quick update to their “Wallet” settings, but it is unlikely to slow down the overall betting handle in major markets like New York or New Jersey. Most modern sportsbooks have seen a significant migration toward direct banking and debit transactions, which offer faster withdrawal speeds—a key factor for high-volume users.

As the industry matures, the “credit-to-bet” model appears to be fading. With the two largest operators in the U.S, FanDuel and DraftKings Sportsbook, now moving away from credit, the remaining players in the market will face increasing pressure to follow suit or risk further intervention from federal and state lawmakers.
