The second day of Wimbledon will proceed on Tuesday, 1 July, featuring the arrival of three top contenders on the men’s side – Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, and Jack Draper.
These players are among the favorites for this year’s title, making this side of the draw more challenging.
For the women, Coco Gauff will commence her quest for a first Wimbledon title. Meanwhile, teenage prodigy Mirra Andreeva will also begin her campaign, aiming to become the latest teenage Wimbledon champion.
Before the matches start, explore our Wimbledon day 2 tips below.
Wimbledon day 2 tips: Our picks
Jannik Sinner to win the match and under 27.5 games (10/11)
Though Jannik Sinner hasn’t shone on grass as much as on other surfaces recently, he has a favorable first-round draw this year, reflected in his short 1/80 odds to win the match at top tennis betting sites.
The strategy here is to pair a Sinner victory with the under 27.5 games market. A straight-set win of 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 or better suffice, and considering he didn’t lose a set until the final in the most recent grand slam, he’s likely to advance smoothly on Tuesday.
His opponent, Luca Nardi, isn’t a natural on grass. He lost in straight sets to a player ranked outside the world’s top 150 in his sole warmup match on grass before Wimbledon. Sinner should face no issues here.
Novak Djokovic to win the match and under 29.5 games (11/10)
A similar bet is suggested for Novak Djokovic as he begins his quest for a record-tying eighth Wimbledon title on Tuesday.
Many believe this year’s tournament is his best and possibly last opportunity to claim grand slam number 25, and his record on grass is exceptional.
Though the Serb hasn’t competed since the French Open, he should easily readjust on Centre Court, boasting an over 85% win rate on grass throughout his career.
Backing him to defeat Alexandre Muller 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 or better at odds over evens seems advantageous. Muller isn’t a grass-court expert, with his previous best at Wimbledon being the second round.
For context, these two have met only once in a grand slam, at the 2023 US Open, when Djokovic won in 23 games.
Dayana Yastremska vs Coco Gauff – Over 2.5 sets (19/10)
Coco Gauff could potentially struggle in her opening round, making her a likely candidate for a challenging match. The young American previously reached the quarter-finals in 2024, her best performance at Wimbledon.
Her opponent, Dayaana Yastremska, poses a challenge as their last match went the distance.
Yastremska is very proficient on grass, as shown recently. She reached the Nottingham Open final and then progressed to the Eastbourne quarter-finals.
Conversely, Gauff has played only one grass match this year, which she lost in straight sets.
