Bukayo Saka Overcomes Self-Doubt, Returns 'More Balanced About Football and Life' 2025 - SCCG Management

England and Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka faced challenges after undergoing surgery at 5am on Christmas Eve, but he has emerged feeling more balanced. During his first major career setback, Saka appreciated having more family time, reading, and bonding with his new puppy, Tucker the cockapoo, while recovering from a torn hamstring that sidelined him for three months. Despite these bright spots, Saka battled the self-doubt common among elite athletes during difficult times.

Reflecting on his journey, Saka says, “Looking back at it, I was happy with how I managed everything.” He found the initial days toughest, grappling with the need for surgery and concerns about his ability to return to form. “You start to think: ‘Am I going to be the same?’ as players have come back from this injury and they weren’t the same.” However, once the operation was successfully completed, his outlook brightened. He dedicated himself to his recovery, focusing on diet, gym work, and field practice. The physios supported his efforts, and Saka believes he has returned to a good place.
