Bo Horvat exited Thursday night’s game against the Anaheim Ducks due to a suspected left-ankle injury. While forechecking in the Ducks’ zone, his right skate tangled with Anaheim defenseman Drew Helleson. As he fell, his left ankle bent awkwardly, leading to a stoppage 6:52 into the second period. Horvat quickly left the ice and went straight to the locker room without updates from the team. Mathew Barzal took over Horvat’s role as first-line center, and Jean-Gabriel Pageau moved to center on the second line, with Simon Holmstrom filling in on the wing. Horvat has been a key player for the Islanders this season, scoring 19 goals in 31 games, tied for third in the NHL.
