Jeff Luhnow has transitioned from baseball controversy to applying his data-driven approach to nurturing African talent at Le Havre and Leganés.
Leaving baseball amidst the 2019 Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal, Jeff Luhnow, who achieved three World Series titles with the Astros and St. Louis Cardinals using his “Extreme Moneyball” strategy, is now focusing on a new sport.
As the proprietor of a football club network, including Leganés in Spain and Ligue 1’s Le Havre, Luhnow intends to transform how African players develop and create direct paths to Europe’s elite leagues. He believes Africa offers abundant talent for integration into European teams, drawing parallels to the baseball talent pools from places like the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. Africa, with its 54 countries, presents a rich diversity of prospects.
