Chelsea falls behind in the title race at Liverpool, while Arsenal struggles with scoring.
Alyssa Thompson scored an impressive early goal in the ninth minute, suggesting another easy victory for Chelsea. However, Liverpool’s strong defense held, allowing the Reds to equalize in the 33rd minute and maintain the draw until halftime. Chelsea’s manager Sonia Bompastor added more attacking players, such as Lauren James and Aggie Beever-Jones, in the second half, but Liverpool’s solid defensive performance prevented Chelsea from scoring again, earning the hosts their second point of the season. Despite Chelsea setting a new record with 34 consecutive unbeaten WSL matches, issues remain with the reigning champions. In the previous season, they had 27 points after nine games and were leading, but this season they have eight fewer points and trail Manchester City by three.
