Leah Williamson returned to competitive play for the first time in 139 days, making her comeback from a knee injury during Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Everton. The England captain was substituted in for Steph Catley in the 82nd minute at Goodison Park, receiving a warm welcome from the 1,200 visiting fans. This was the 28-year-old’s first match since the Euros final against Spain in July in Basel. Arsenal is carefully managing Williamson’s return, but she might appear again against Belgian side Leuven in the Champions League on Wednesday.
