Key Storylines
- Winnipeg’s QB uncertainty is a factor going into this game. Zach Collaros is questionable for the Bombers. Chris Streveler filled in for him last week, completing 18/29 for 241 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Streveler also added a rushing score. The turnover issue looms large for the Bombers. If Collaros can’t go, Winnipeg needs Streveler to clean up his mistakes.
- Ottawa’s offense has shown some flashes recently. Dustin Crum went 30/35 for 307 yards and rushed for two touchdowns against the Lions but also lost a fumble and was pressured heavily. Bralon Addison and Justin Hardy combined for over 230 yards receiving. But Ottawa’s defense needs to be better if the Redblacks are going to get a win at home here.
- Winnipeg is in the third spot in the West Division race and are trying to reach the postseason again. Ottawa is at the bottom of the East but they are not out of postseason contention just yet.
Quarterback Play
The big question is whether Zach Collaros can shake off injury and be effective for Winnipeg. If he starts, expect better passing production from the Blue Bombers. If Streveler is the starter again, he’s capable of making plays with his legs, but he also tends to force passes and turn the ball over. For Ottawa, Dustin Crum has shown excellent accuracy under pressure in recent weeks. Dru Brown is questionable, which means Crum may have to carry the offence again.

I think this is going to be a tight game and is likely to be decided by which team’s quarterback situation is the least bleak. If Collaros can play and be effective, Winnipeg should be able to win on the road. But I’m not convinced that will happen and will take the Redblacks to cover the spread for the time being.
