It seems like just yesterday we were preparing for the opening day of this year’s Wimbledon, but on Thursday, the women’s singles semi-finals will occur on Centre Court.
With several top seeds such as Coco Gauff, Madison Keys, and Jasmine Paolini exiting early, Aryna Sabalenka seems poised for the championship.
The world number one faced potential elimination in the quarter-finals but mounted a late rally in the third set to defeat Laura Siegemund. She will now compete against a revitalized Amanda Anisimova for a spot in the final.
In the other semi-final, Belinda Bencic will clash with Iga Swiatek. Bencic has been an underdog throughout the tournament, and that will continue on Thursday against the world number four.

Aryna Sabalenka 2-1 Amanda Anisimova (3/1)
Aryna Sabalenka is the only remaining player in the Women’s singles who has reached the expected stage of the tournament based on her seeding. However, her journey has not been smooth, indicating room for improvement.
She was fortunate to advance through her quarter-final match, and it wasn’t the first time she underperformed. In the third round, Emma Raducanu had opportunities to win the first set and led by a break in the second.
In the previous round, Marie Bouzkova should have secured the first set against her but was broken while leading 6-5. While her stats indicate she has only dropped one set all tournament, the scenario could have been different.
Her semi-final rival, Amanda Anisimova, has been exceptional and is the best server Sabalenka has faced so far. It’s unlikely the world number one can afford to lose her serve as often as she has on Thursday.
Nonetheless, Sabalenka should still manage to win this match, but Anisimova is expected to take a set off her.
Belinda Bencic to beat Iga Swiatek (9/4)
This marks Iga Swiatek’s best-ever run at Wimbledon, but her serve issues have been evident. The former world number one has been broken twice in her last two matches, and although she won both in straight sets, she isn’t invincible on this surface.
Belinda Bencic has been serving impressively over the past two weeks at Wimbledon and was broken just once in her victory over Mirra Andreeva in the semi-finals. If she maintains her strong serve, Swiatek will face challenges.
The world number 35 also has past success against Swiatek in a grand slam, having defeated her in straight sets at the 2021 US Open.
