Wednesday’s football tips: PSG look good at 7/5 in the handicap against weakened Newcastle

The Champions League group stage comes to a climax tonight and the pick of the games sees Paris St-Germain and Newcastle United slug it out for direct entry to the last 16.

PSG swept all before them at home and in Europe last term but they’ve looked more vulnerable on both fronts this season.

Luis Enrique’s side have won just four of their seven games in the group stage but three points at home to the Magpies tonight will be enough to keep them in the top eight – and likely leave Newcastle in the play-off round.

Paris St-Germain vs Newcastle United top betting tips

Newcastle let me down at the weekend when they lost at home to Aston Villa and the absence of injured captain Bruno Guimaraes was key.

The midfielder and countryman Joelinton are doubts for Paris and it’s hard to see Newcastle avoiding defeat without them.

PSG are 8/15 hot favourites with most firms but backing them at -1 in the handicap boosts the odds to 7/5 with William Hill.

Jacob Ramsey and Sandro Tonali could start in midfield if the Brazilian duo fail to prove their fitness and a double on both committing a foul pays 123/100 at the same firm.

Manchester City vs Galatasaray

Manchester City are the only English side currently sitting outside the top eight but a win at home to Galatasaray tonight should seal their progress to the last 16.

Pep Guardiola’s men haven’t been in great form but boosted morale with a 2-0 weekend win over Wolves.

Erling Haaland was rested for that game and Guardiola will be hoping the striker will be back with a bang tonight.

The Norwegian hasn’t scored in his last five outings but is still just 8/13 at Unibet for anytime scorer. But backing him to break the deadlock boosts the odds to 57/17 with the same firm.

Galatasaray may need a point to secure a place in the knockout stages so they could set up to frustrate. That could see the corner count rise for City and they’re a tempting evens at McBookie for over 3.5 first-half corners.

Napoli vs Chelsea

Napoli sit one place outside the top 25 heading into the final game and have a tough final fixture at home to Chelsea as they look to seal a slot in the knockouts.

The Blues have plenty of motivation themselves as they seek the victory that would keep them inside the top eight so this has the potential to be a cracker.

Liam Rosenior has won four of his five games in charge so far but Chelsea were poor in their last Champions League as they edged past Pafos with a late Moises Caicedo goal.

So with a passionate crowd behind them, Napoli look decent value at 13/5 with Bet365 to get the win they need.

Antonio Conte’s men are also evens at 888Sport to win either half if you want to play it a bit safer.

This one could be fiery and combining cards for midfield adversaries Caicedo and Scott McTominay pays 13/1 at SkyBet.
