Wednesday's football tips: Germany look good at 6/4 to start with a bang against Portugal

The UEFA Nations League finals get underway in Munich tonight with a tasty clash between Germany and Portugal.

The Germans are looking to win the tournament for the first time and have home advantage as they look to take the next step in their evolution under Julian Nagelsmann.

Portugal head into the finals in patchy form but still have enough talent to lift the trophy for a second time if they click into top gear. So it promises to be a fascinating semi-final at the Allianz Arena.

Germany vs Portugal top betting tips

BoyleSports make Germany their 4/5 favourites with home advantage and that looks justified, with Naglesmann’s side losing just once in 17 games. You can boost the odds to 6/4 by backing the hosts to win the first half.

We should see goals at both ends in this one, with so much attacking talent on the pitch. It was a 4-2 thriller when these nations last faced off four years ago, with Germany coming out on top.

So I fancy BTTS and over 2.5 goals at 21/2o with BoyleSports while backing both teams to score in the first half is bigger at 16/5.

If Rafael Leao gets the nod to start for Portugal, I like the evens on offer at Bet365 for him to have over 1.5 shots in the game.

South Africa vs Mozambique

The COSAFA Cup gets underway in South Africa today and the hosts take on Mozambique in their first group game.

This tournament is like a mini Africa Cup of the Nations but big hitters such as Ghana, Ivory Coast, Egypt and Nigeria aren’t taking part.

South Africa should go pretty far, even though they have named an inexperienced squad. BoyleSports make them 11/10 favourites to get off to a winning start against Mozambique and that looks decent value with home advantage.

BTTS has landed in the last three meetings of these nations so it bodes well for a few goals. Combining BTTS and over 2.5 goals pays 6/5 at BoyleSports.

Mauritius vs Zimbabwe

The other game at the COSAFA Cup today sees Mauritius take on Zimbabwe in the same group.

There has been a bit of controversy in Zimbabwe after winger Nathan Mutasa, the son of a socialite, was surprisingly called up after poor displays at club level.

That could cause a problem behind the scenes and it will be interesting to see if he features against Mauritius today.

BoyleSports still make Zimbabwe 11/10 favourites, with Mauritius at 19/10, and those odds seem fair enough with the minnows winning just one of their last 12 games.

Zimbabwe drew 1-1 away to big guns Nigeria in their last World Cup qualifier so that suggests they look worth a punt for the win, despite the Mutasa controversy.
