Wednesday’s football tips: City playmaker Cherki ready to make an impact against Fulham

Manchester City kept their Premier League title hopes alive on Sunday and now have the chance to cut Arsenal’s lead to just three points tonight.

The epic late comeback at Anfield has given Pep Guardiola’s shot a big shot of belief but they need to follow it up with a home win over Fulham.

The Cottagers have a terrible record against City, losing the last 19 meetings, but Marco Silva still has enough talent in his squad to hurt a defence that has been unconvincing.

We were treated to a nine-goal thriller when these sides last faced off as City came within a whisker of blowing a 5-1 lead at Craven Cottage.

The stats suggest another entertaining game tonight, with BTTS and over 2.5 goals landing in six of Fulham’s last seven games. Combining those two bets here pays a best 11/10 at Paddy Power.

Guardiola will probably freshen things up a bit after a draining game at Anfield, with Rayan Cherki, Phil Foden and Tijjani Reijnders pushing for starts.

Aston Villa vs Brighton and Hove Albion

Aston Villa’s title hopes look to be over after dropping five points in their last two games and they need to bounce back at home to Brighton tonight.

The Seagulls are also on a downer after losing 1-0 to rivals Crystal Palace and that defeat has left them a bit too close to the drop zone for comfort.

So both teams will be fired up for this one and it should make for an entertaining game, especially with Villa winning 4-3 on the south coast earlier this season.

Motherwell vs Rangers

Rangers have their tails up after smashing 13 goals in their last two games but they face a major test of their SPFL Premiership title credentials away to in-form Motherwell tonight.

The Steelmen drew 1-1 with Gers at Fir Park on the opening day and have since taken four points off leaders Hearts and beaten champions Celtic.

Jens Berthel Askou has his side playing some of the best football in Scotland and a win tonight would leave them just five points behind Rangers with a game in hand.

The bookies still make Motherwell outsiders at a best 5/2 with BetMGM while Rangers are 23/20 favourites at BetMGM.

Danny Rohl’s men had to settle for a 0-0 draw at Easter Road on their last tricky away day and I wouldn’t be surprised if this ended level too. But I’ve a feeling Rangers might just edge it and they’re always worth backing at odd-against in the Premiership.

Spurs loanee Mikey Moore is emerging as a key man for Rohl and I like the 11/10 on offer at BetMGM for the forward to have an effort on target tonight.
