A recent gathering of teenagers flooded the streets of Las Vegas, assembling at a mall where they tried to stage a takeover, reportedly streaming the event live on Instagram.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the “juvenile takeover” attempt that necessitated their presence at Meadows Mall.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, LVMPD Lieutenant Patricia Heldt stated that officers arrived at the mall around 5pm on Tuesday. Roughly 100 teenagers gathered outside the mall and began “several fights.”
KSNV Las Vegas published an image of an online flyer advertising the takeover of Round1 Bowling & Arcade, a Japanese franchise that also offers karaoke and billiards. The flyer read, “Be here or hear ABT it. Keep yo BS at yo Mom house. Come fly and have fun.”
The streaming reportedly began around 5pm, according to LVMPD. A news segment shared by KSNV on YouTube showcased scenes from the takeover, including a teen performing cartwheels on the street.
Round1 actively markets itself on Instagram, but the Osaka-based brand did not acknowledge the takeover attempt on the platform. However, News 3 reported that Round1 issued a statement saying they were “doing everything” possible to “keep staff and guests safe” during spring break. The company also reiterated its policy that “guests must be over 21.”
