Uran Satybaldiev enters this fight with knockout power. He doesn’t throw a ton of volume but he has five knockouts out of eight career MMA wins. Satybaldiev lost his last fight in his UFC debut against Martin Buday in April. That was Satybaldiev’s UFC debut and he will aim to clean things up to get into the win column for the first time in MMA’s biggest promotion.
Diyar Nurgozhay also suffered his first career loss in his last fight. He dropped his UFC debut via submission against Brendson Ribeiro back in March. Nurgozhay averages more significant strikes landed per minute than Satybaldiev. He also has a more versatile offense thanks to the fact that he mixes in takedowns. That is not something Satybaldiev does and that could work in the favor of the fighter from Kazakhstan.

I am very interested to see how this fight plays out from a strategic standpoint. Satybaldiev hasn’t shown much interest in attempting takedowns and controlling things on the ground in his career. He will try to win this fight by landing big blows from his feet. Nurgozhay can neutralize that facet of Satybaldiev’s game by getting takedowns and preventing Satybaldiev from throwing strikes.
I think that is what we are going to see happen in this fight. I am expecting the Kazakh fighter to use his ground game to control this matchup and to get his first win as a member of the UFC roster. He will hand Satybaldiev his second straight loss with UFC. As far as a method of victory is concerned, I would lean toward a decision. But I’ll take Nurgozhay on the moneyline at a plus price in this prelim card opener.
