The Minnesota Timberwolves will face the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night at Paycom Center. Tip-off is set for 7:35 pm CT (8:35 pm ET), and the Thunder, who finished with the best record in the NBA, come into the series opener as substantial favorites.
Despite splitting their four regular-season meetings, oddsmakers have made Oklahoma City a 7.5-point home favorite, a slight increase from the opening line after their dominant Game 7 win over Denver. The Thunder are listed at -303 on the moneyline, giving them a 75% implied chance to grab a 1-0 series lead. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are a +240 underdog. Bettors have also driven the game total up to 217.5 points after it originally opened at 213.0.
Oklahoma City has cashed the over in their last two games and holds a 6-5 record to the over/under in the postseason. Minnesota sits at 5-5 O/U, also riding a two-game streak where the final score surpassed oddsmakers’ projections — including totals of 227 and 221 points in their last two matchups against the Warriors. Across the regular season, all four Timberwolves-Thunder games cleared the 217-point mark, averaging a combined 236.8 points.
In terms of head-to-head matchups, the two teams met four times during the regular season, including three closely contested games in February. Minnesota earned a 116-101 victory at home on February 13 and a 131-128 overtime win in OKC on February 24. The Thunder rallied for a 130-123 road win on February 23 and previously defeated the Wolves 113-105 on December 31.
Looking beyond Game 1, the Thunder opened as -265 favorites to win the series but that price quickly surged to -330. They also hold the shortest title odds at -145 to win the NBA championship, while the Timberwolves are listed at +550.
As for player props, the spotlight is on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is averaging 29.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 6.4 assists this postseason. His point total for Game 1 is set at 31.5. He topped 30 points in five of seven games against the Nuggets and twice against the Grizzlies.
Anthony Edwards leads Minnesota’s player props with his scoring line set at 25.5. He’s surpassed that only four times in ten playoff games and averaged just 19.8 points in the regular season against the Thunder.
On the glass, Rudy Gobert (9.6 RPG) and Chet Holmgren (9.7 RPG) sit atop the rebound props with over/under lines at 9.5 each.
