Trump Launches 2026 World Cup Task Force, Promises Security and Economic Boom
President Donald Trump officially kicked off the first meeting of his administration’s 2026 World Cup task force during a public event on Tuesday. The gathering marked the beginning of U.S. preparations for the international tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
During the event, Trump emphasized the massive scale and expected impact of the tournament, declaring it would be the “biggest, safest, and most extraordinary soccer tournament in history.” He claimed the event would spark significant economic benefits across the country, predicting “tens of billions of dollars in economic activity for local businesses” and the creation of “thousands and thousands of jobs for American workers.”
Despite the fanfare, the event revealed a surprising lack of awareness from the President regarding global football developments—he appeared unaware that Russia had been banned from FIFA competitions.
Nevertheless, Trump reassured the public that the tournament would proceed smoothly, with a strong focus on safety, hospitality, and economic growth.
