There will be a new Women’s College World Series champion for the first time in five years. Four-time defending champion Oklahoma was ousted by the emerging Texas Tech, leading to an all-Lone Star State clash as the Red Raiders take on the Texas Longhorns.
The Longhorns are making their third appearance in the title series over the past four years but, like the Red Raiders, are aiming for the school’s inaugural World Series title.
The odds are evenly split for this matchup, with Game 1 beginning on Wednesday, June 4, at 8pm ET at OGE Energy Field at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, covered by ESPN/ESPN+.

Both the Red Raiders and Longhorns have -110 odds on the moneyline entering the CWS. It’s a best-of-three series to claim the title, so a team can lose Game 1 and still win the World Series by securing victories in Games 2 and 3.

Texas Tech vs Texas Picks & Predictions
The main concern is what Texas Tech can muster after serving as giant killers in the WCWS semifinals.
The Red Raiders had an intense battle against the Sooners, who led 2-0 and were one out away from securing a spot in the title series when Abigale Dayton hit a game-tying two-run homer in the top of the seventh to knot the game at 2-2.

However, Texas Tech bounced back in their final at-bats when Mihyia Davis singled and Hailey Toney doubled, setting up Lauren Allred’s walk-off sac fly to win 3-2.
The Red Raiders will rely heavily on Stanford transfer Nijaree Canaday, the team star as both a pitcher and hitter. On the mound, Canaday holds a minuscule 0.86 ERA, the best in the NCAA, leading her team to victory in each match.

Texas had to surmount significant challenges to reach the Championship series. They eliminated Oklahoma in the double-elimination portion of the World Series, gaining closure after losses to the Sooners in the 2022 and 2024 title series.
They also had to overcome Tennessee Lady Vols pitcher Karlyn Pickens, doing just enough in a 2-0 win to secure their spot in the final.
Offensively, Texas was formidable all year, posting the second-best average in the NCAA (.357) with a 54-11 record in the rigorous SEC division.

The Longhorns benefit from two ace pitchers in their rotation. Teagan Kavan, who started against Oklahoma, struck out eight in a 4-2 Texas win. She also relieved Mac Morgan against Tennessee.
