Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold expressed his belief in self-faith after their 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX. Darnold, who once struggled during his time with the New York Jets, has now found his footing with the Seahawks, achieving a remarkable turnaround by winning the championship.
Although not the Super Bowl MVP, Darnold performed steadily, completing 19 of 38 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown. The MVP honor went to running back Kenneth Walker, who played a crucial role in the Seahawks’ offense with 135 rushing yards and two receptions for 26 yards. This victory was reminiscent of the Seahawks’ dominant 2014 team, with a defense now dubbed the “Dark Side.”
Through three quarters, Seattle seemed poised for a historic Super Bowl shutout, but Patriots quarterback Drake Maye ended that possibility with a 35-yard touchdown pass. Despite this, Seattle’s defense remained strong, while New England’s offense struggled to match the pace.
Even though the Patriots’ defense was resilient, allowing just one touchdown in four Seattle red-zone attempts, it wasn’t enough. Jason Myers set a Super Bowl record with five field goals, as head coach Mike Macdonald prioritized securing points. Macdonald, at 38, became the third-youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl and achieved this feat while calling defensive plays, joining a select group of coaches to win a Super Bowl before age 40.
