Sunday’s football tips: West Ham new boy Castellanos 7/5 to get off the mark in Cup

West Ham are looking increasingly doomed in the Premier League but the bookies reckon they will get a much-needed morale boost in the FA Cup today against Queens Park Rangers.

The Hammers are now seven points adrift of safety after a dismal run that has seen them go 10 games without a victory.

They now host QPR in the cup and the Championship side will fancy their chances but West Ham are 4/7 favourites with most firms to reach the fourth round.

West Ham United vs Queens Park Rangers top betting tips

QPR aren’t in great form themselves, with their only win in the last four Championship games coming against rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday.

That maybe explains why they’re as big as 19/4 with BetMGM but all the pressure is on the Hammers and manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

A lot will depend on how strong a side Santo picks but I fancy QPR to have a go and combining BTTS with over 2.5 goals looks worth a punt at 5/4 with Ladbrokes.

West Ham new boy Taty Castellanos will be desperate to open his account as soon as possible and this cup tie gives him the perfect chance.

The former Lazio striker looks decent value at 7/5 with Ladbrokes for anytime scorer if he gets the nod to start.

Portsmouth vs Arsenal

There’s another Championship v Premier League tie at Fratton Park as Portsmouth look to pull off a massive shock by knocking out Arsenal.

The Gunners were poor on Thursday as they drew 0-0 at home to Liverpool and I’d imagine Mikel Arteta will make lots of changes amid a busy run of fixtures.

That should boost Pompey’s chances of pulling off an upset but they’re still 12/1 rank outsiders with Betfred. It could be a tough afternoon for Arsenal if they fail to get an early goal so Pompey +2 in the handicap is tempting at 6/5 with 888Sport.

Arteta has plenty of quality in reserve and players who have been on the fringes of late will be desperate to impress.

Eberechi Eze and Mikel Merino should get starts and a double on each player having a shot on target pays 132/100 at BetMGM.

Aberdeen vs Rangers

Rangers have fired themselves right back into title contention in the SPFL Premiership but face a big test of mettle on the road in Aberdeen today.

This is the second leg of a quick-fire double-header, with Danny Rohl’s men beating the Dons 2-0 at Ibrox in midweek to move just three points behind leaders Hearts.

Aberdeen are still reeling from the sacking of boss Jimmy Thelin and have gone six games without a win, losing five of those matches.

Rangers have been grinding out victories without playing particularly well and I fancy them to do the same today. Combining the away win with under 4.5 goals looks the shout here and it pays 11/10 at Ladbrokes.

This is one of the spiciest fixtures in Scottish football and we usually see plenty of cards when these teams collide.

A double on midfield adversaries Nico Raskin and Graeme Shinnie going into the book pays 77/10 at William Hill.
