Steelers’ Mike Tomlin Updates on Aaron Rodgers’ Week 13 Status - SCCG Management

The Pittsburgh Steelers have slipped from the top position in the NFC North standings following a 31-28 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 12.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was absent due to a fractured left wrist. Despite this, head coach Mike Tomlin expressed optimism that Rodgers will play in the next game against the Buffalo Bills.

“I anticipate him being ready for next week [against the Buffalo Bills],” Tomlin stated. “It was a prudent decision to make. Certainly, it wasn’t a fluid week for him. It was a fluid week for Mason in terms of reps and so forth, and so I think it’ll be in our rear view as we move forward. I’m hopeful of that.”

Rodgers sustained the injury in the matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, leading him to miss the second half. He participated partially in practice the Friday before the game but did not demonstrate enough readiness to start.

Tomlin noted that Rodgers doesn’t necessarily need practice to be prepared to face the Bills.

“He’s the type of guy — and has the type of profile — that doesn’t require a lot of physical work in an effort to be ready to play,” Tomlin commented at his weekly news conference. “And that’s helpful.”

If Rodgers is unable to play, Mason Rudolph is expected to start again. Rudolph almost led the Steelers to victory against the Bears, completing 24 of 31 passes for 171 yards, along with a touchdown and an interception.
