Jamie Vardy, the renowned English striker and Leicester City icon, remains active beyond his contract expiration with Leicester on June 30, amidst rumors of a move to the US, specifically the New York Red Bulls. The Spanish outlet Fichajes suggested that New York is among several teams, including Austria’s RB Salzburg, newly promoted English team Leeds United, Spain’s Villarreal and Valencia, and MLS’s Charlotte FC, interested in the 38-year-old who enjoyed 13 seasons at Leicester. However, amNewYork reports that there are no negotiations happening between the Red Bulls and Vardy. It appears challenging to see how Vardy would fit into New York’s current setup. With experienced forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Lewis Morgan nearing recovery from knee surgery, the Red Bulls seem well-equipped. Additionally, the team sees potential in 20-year-old Mohammed Sofo, who impressively scored seven goals in 12 matches this season after stepping in for Morgan. Vardy concluded this season with nine goals in 35 matches, making him Leicester’s all-time top Premier League scorer with 145 goals, a record surpassed by only 13 others in league history. He played a pivotal role in Leicester’s 2016 Premier League triumph and earned 26 caps for England, scoring seven times.
