A seemingly random encounter would later prove life-changing for many, though all Shaka Hislop wanted at that moment was to get away.
While filling up his car at a petrol station one dark November night in 1995, then-Newcastle goalkeeper Hislop felt a mix of anger and fear. He was on his way home with his wife and young daughter after an evening out when, noticing the fuel gauge nearing empty, he stopped at a gas station just across from St James’ Park.
