There’s no official announcement about the introduction of an online casino or sports betting in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but the national lottery operator’s job ads imply it might happen.
The company is seeking a casino games manager, a data analyst, and a commercial director.
Momentum is preparing to launch an “ambitious, early-stage online casino and sportsbook brand.” It was approved as the first-ever lottery operator in July 2024, allowing people in the emirate to buy lottery tickets online, purchase scratchcards, and play instant-win games. This marks a significant change for a traditionally conservative region regarding gambling.
The establishment of the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) enabled the issuance of the lottery license and approved Wynn Resorts to offer gambling at its upcoming land-based casino resort in Ras Al Khaimah, set to open in 2027.
