Saturday's football tips: Back Liverpool at 11/10 in the corner handicap as Forest come calling

The Premier League gets back underway after the international break and it will be fascinating to see how Liverpool respond at home to Nottingham Forest today.

The champions went into the break on a downer after a 3-0 thrashing by Manchester City made it five defeats in their last six league games.

That has left Arne Slot’s men eight points behind leaders Arsenal so they can ill afford any more dropped points when Forest come calling.

Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest top betting tips

Forest claimed a shock 1-0 win on their last visit to Anfield and that set a tone for a memorable campaign that saw them finish seventh to book a return to Europe.

They find themselves at the wrong end of the table this term after the doomed Ange Postecoglou experiment but Sean Dyche should make them harder to beat.

I’d imagine Dyche will set up to frustrate Liverpool today so going for home corners could be a smart move. The Reds won 7-2 and 9-0 on the corner count in last season’s meetings so Liverpool -3 in that handicap looks good at 11/10 with BOYLE Sports.

Elliot Anderson will be at the heart of the midfield battle and he’s 17/5 at William Hill for a card while Star Sports price him at evens for over 1.5 fouls.

Newcastle United vs Manchester City

Manchester City’s title bid is gathering plenty of pace but they face a huge test of mettle at St James’ Park today.

That thumping win over Liverpool has left Pep Guardiola’s men just four points behind Arsenal and they will be looking to apply more pressure on the leaders.

Newcastle away is always a tough game, though, and the Magpies will be fired up as they bid to spark a disappointing Premier League campaign back into life.

City have only claimed one win on their last four visits to St James’ Park so there could be some value in backing Newcastle in the one goal ahead market at 21/20. That pays out if they take the lead at any point.

The midfield battle will be key in this game so I’m going to combine a few fouls bets. Backing Matheus Nunes, Nico Gonzalez, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes to each commit a foul pays 21/20 at Bet365.

Burnley vs Chelsea

The Premier League action gets underway at lunchtime with a clash between Burnley and Chelsea at Turf Moor.

The Blues have fired themselves back into title contention after moving to within six points of Arsenal and are hot favourites at a best 1/2 with Unibet today.

Burnley can be a tough nut to crack at home though, with Arsenal and Liverpool the only two Premier League sides to emerge with a win from Turf Moor this season.

The corner count racked up for the visitors in both those games, with Liverpool winning 13 and Arsenal amassing seven, so that’s a market worth looking at today.

Over 6.5 Chelsea corners looks decent value at 7/5 with Ladbrokes while backing the Blues at -2 in the corner handicap is safer at evens with William Hill.

Rangers vs Livingston

Rangers have racked up three SPFL Premiership wins in a row under Danny Rohl and could still fire themselves back into title contention.

They’re 12 behind Hearts, albeit with a game in hand, and five adrift of Celtic but both their rivals have some tricky away games in the next couple of fixtures.

Gers, in contrast, face Livingston and Falkirk at Ibrox in their next two Premiership games so they have a big chance to apply some pressure.

Livi are rooted to the foot of the table so it’s no surprise to see them as big as 21/2 with BetMGM for a shock win in Glasgow.

Although Rangers have been defending poorly this season, they kept a clean sheet at Dundee in their last game so I fancy a home win to nil today at 23/20 with William Hill.
