Rush Street Interactive (RSI), a leading name in the U.S. online gaming industry, has unveiled a new initiative aimed at educating high school students about the risks associated with gambling. The program, known as Gaming Literacy Aiding Decisions (GLAD), is a collaboration with Integrity Compliance 360 (IC360), an organization focused on compliance and ethical business practices.
GLAD Program Launches to Educate Teens on Gambling in a Digital Era
The goal of the GLAD program is to promote gambling awareness among teens, especially as online betting becomes increasingly common and accessible. Designed as an educational resource, GLAD provides schools with structured lesson plans and teaching tools to encourage informed conversations around gambling behavior. The program is currently being introduced in New Jersey and Delaware, with plans to expand depending on its reception and effectiveness.
RSI CEO Richard Schwartz highlighted the importance of such education, noting that digital environments today expose young people to gambling content at an early age—often through games, apps, and advertisements. He emphasized the need for proactive education that reflects the digitally connected world teens live in. According to Schwartz, it’s vital to give students the resources they need to understand gambling’s potential harms and make responsible decisions.
GLAD is designed to support educators by supplying classroom materials and guest speakers who can facilitate open discussions. The intention isn’t to promote or condemn gambling, but rather to arm students with the knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to recognize risks, set boundaries, and make informed personal choices.
A Shift in Youth Gambling Awareness, Says IC360
IC360 Co-CEO Eric Frank praised RSI’s initiative, calling the GLAD program a forward-thinking model for how private companies can contribute meaningfully to youth education. He noted that gambling education is often absent from traditional school curricula, and that GLAD bridges this gap by combining corporate support with educational goals.
The rollout of GLAD comes amid increasing national concern about underage gambling, as digital access makes betting more widespread among youth. Recent studies suggest that a significant number of high school students have experimented with some form of gambling, reinforcing the urgency of early intervention and education.
RSI, the parent company of well-known brands like BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse, is known for its commitment to regulated gaming markets throughout North and South America. The launch of GLAD reflects RSI’s broader commitment to responsible gaming, viewing education as a necessary complement to regulatory measures.
As GLAD begins its implementation in New Jersey and Delaware, the coming months will serve as a key test of how gaming companies can contribute to public education and awareness. A successful rollout could serve as a model for similar programs across North America.
