Adams had until June 30 to agree to an extension, while Houston has until June 29 to decide on Fred VanVleet’s $44.9 million team option, with mutual interest in a reunion.
The Rockets have the potential for a significant offseason, possibly becoming major competitors against the Oklahoma City Thunder if they can retain VanVleet and acquire Durant without excessive costs.
