Reading FC Ownership Saga Ends as Rob Couhig Takes Over from Dai Yongge
Rob Couhig, the former owner of Wycombe Wanderers, has officially completed the takeover of Reading FC, marking the end of a tumultuous chapter under outgoing owner Dai Yongge. The English Football League (EFL) has formally ratified the deal, which includes the acquisition of the club’s stadium and training facilities.
Couhig, 76, brings a wealth of football experience to Reading, currently competing in League One. His purchase concludes years of instability under Dai’s ownership, which was marred by financial difficulties and on-field struggles.
Supporters’ groups have widely welcomed the news. A leading fan campaign organization expressed relief, saying, “We are incredibly relieved.” The EFL also extended its support, wishing the club and its fans “a successful future following a difficult period for all associated with the club.”
This long-anticipated change in ownership signals a fresh start for Reading FC as it looks to rebuild both on and off the pitch.
