The Premier League is considering introducing Ref Cams to enhance in-game footage available to broadcasters. These small cameras, attached to a referee’s ear to give TV viewers a unique perspective of the match, have recently been tested by FIFA during the Club World Cup. Discussions have taken place between the Premier League and the International Football Association Board (IFAB), which sets the game’s rules, to explore the possibility of extending this trial to domestic leagues. The technology could be tested in pre-season, subject to approval.
