The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) revealed it has imposed fines amounting to $70,000 on two gaming entities. Additionally, the regulator has prohibited several individuals from accessing casinos in the state due to various infractions.
PGCB Exposes Underage Gambling and Licensing Problems
On July 23, the PGCB disclosed fines against Betfair Interactive and Sugarhouse HSP Gaming.
According to its report, Betfair, operating as FanDuel, failed to license multiple employees, resulting in a $40,000 fine.
Concurrently, Sugarhouse, responsible for Rivers Philadelphia Casino, was charged with permitting minors to gamble. The PGCB highlighted two incidents where individuals under the legal gambling age of 21 were allowed to access the casino, leading to a $30,000 fine.
The Board Prohibited 7 Individuals from Gambling
Simultaneously, the PGCB announced measures against 7 individuals, placing them on various involuntary exclusion lists, barring them from engaging with the gambling industry, entering casinos, playing at Video Gaming Terminal (VGT) halls, or gaming online.
With these additions, the involuntarily excluded player count has risen to 1,411.
The PGCB noted that 5 individuals were added to the involuntary casino exclusion list for different offenses. An example involved a female patron who left two minors, ages 8 and 9, unattended in a hotel room at Hollywood Casino while gambling. The children were left alone for 7 hours and 41 minutes.
The PGCB reminded gamblers not to leave minors unattended in vehicles, hotel rooms, garages, or other casino premises, citing potential dangers. The board promoted its awareness initiative, “Don’t Gamble with Kids,” urging parents to act responsibly.
The remaining 2 individuals were included in the involuntary interactive gaming exclusion list for “fraudulent actions involving online gambling.”
