The Osage Nation Casino is set to be developed on a 28-acre site near Lake Ozark in Miller County, Missouri, marking a significant step in a complex process involving local agreements on infrastructure, services, and revenue sharing.
Initial plans for the casino were made public five years ago in October 2021. The federally recognized tribe from Pawhuska, Oklahoma, revealed intentions to build a $60 million hotel complex with a casino, restaurants, and an entertainment center.
Administrator Harrison Fry shared positive news: “We did receive the declination letter from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, which was necessary for confirming the legal soundness and enforceability of one of the agreements.”
This was related to revenue sharing, pointing towards the completion of their federal process.

The revenue sharing is expected to involve 2.5% of the casino’s net earnings, potentially exceeding $2 million annually.
Meanwhile, the Osage Nation has started work on a Cultural Center next to the Bagnell Dam, slated to open in June 2026.
Currently, the state’s legislation allows casino boats on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers with limited gaming licenses.
In 2024, an initiative aimed at increasing these licenses was intended to secure a new one for the Osage River, directing tax revenue to early childhood education programs.
In November 2025, Osage River Gaming and Conventions announced plans to campaign for a state constitutional amendment after a similar proposal was previously rejected. This effort aimed to establish a casino along Highway 54 on the Osage River, potentially setting the stage for competition between two casinos in Lake Ozark.
