Dutch player makes long-awaited FA Cup debut
The midfielder had not played since the Euro 2025 group stage
Daniëlle van de Donk expressed immense pride in herself after recovering from a lengthy knee injury to make her anticipated debut for London City Lionesses over the weekend, seven months post signing with the club.
Van de Donk hadn’t played since starting the Netherlands’ final group game against France in Euro 2025 in July, a month after agreeing to join London City, a newly-promoted team to the Women’s Super League, from OL Lyonnes. The 34-year-old former Arsenal player entered as a second-half substitute in London City’s 1-0 victory at Sunderland in the Women’s FA Cup fourth round on Saturday, overcoming months of frustration.
