NBA & WNBA Picks and Parlays (May 22–23): Support the Pacers and OKC – SCCG Management

As the Conference Finals heat up, fans are eagerly anticipating the second games in both NBA series after an exciting start. In the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder dominated the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1, powered by a standout performance from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who was also honored with the MVP trophy. The Thunder were relentless on defense and capitalized on turnovers, turning 19 Timberwolves miscues into 31 points. Given their strong home performance and consistent ability to cover the spread, the smart pick for Game 2 is Oklahoma City to do it again.

Meanwhile, in the East, the Indiana Pacers staged an unbelievable comeback to steal Game 1 in overtime against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Trailing by 14 with less than three minutes on the clock, the Pacers rallied to a 138-135 victory. With the Knicks entering Game 2 as 5.5-point favorites, there’s value in betting on Indiana to cover the spread again. Both teams have a history of high-scoring games, so the over on total points (currently around 227) is also worth a look.

The action doesn’t stop with the NBA. The WNBA season is in full swing with several compelling matchups set to tip off before the weekend.

New York Liberty vs. Chicago Sky – Liberty to Cover

The New York Liberty travel to Chicago to face the Sky on Thursday, May 22. Riding high after a decisive 92-78 win over the Las Vegas Aces, the Liberty are showing why they’re title contenders. Breanna Stewart and Natasha Cloud have been exceptional, and New York’s defensive intensity has made it tough for opponents to score. On the other side, Chicago is coming off a tough 93-58 loss to Indiana, though rookie Angel Reese impressed with 12 points and 17 rebounds.

With New York favored by 11 to 11.5 points and the total set around 162.5–163.5, look for the Liberty to cover the spread. Their depth and experience should be too much for the rebuilding Sky. Also consider playing the under, as New York’s defense may limit Chicago’s scoring opportunities.

Indiana Fever vs. Atlanta Dream – Fever to Cover

The Indiana Fever and Atlanta Dream face off again just two days after a thrilling matchup that ended 91-90 in favor of Atlanta. With both teams sitting at 1–1, this rematch is a key early-season test. Caitlin Clark continues to show superstar potential, averaging 23.5 points and 10.5 assists per game. Supported by Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, the Fever have an explosive offense but need to tighten up on turnovers.

Atlanta brings a balanced offensive attack of its own, but their defensive struggles—allowing nearly 50% shooting from opponents—could be exploited. Indiana is a 3.5-point favorite, and with their offensive firepower and a chip on their shoulder after the close loss, they’re a strong play to cover the spread. The over (O/U 173) also seems reasonable given the teams combined for 181 points in their last meeting.

Washington Mystics vs. Las Vegas Aces – Aces to Cover

The Washington Mystics are on the road against the Las Vegas Aces, coming off a narrow 76-74 defeat against the Golden State Valkyries. Brittney Sykes delivered a stellar performance with 30 points, but Washington has been inconsistent and struggles away from home, compounded by injuries.

Las Vegas is expected to bounce back strongly. One of the league’s top defensive teams last season, the Aces allowed just 80.9 points per game and are formidable at home. With the Mystics shorthanded, the Aces are favored by 6.5 points, and it’s a solid bet to take them to cover. Also, the under on total points is worth considering as both teams play a slower, defense-first style that could result in fewer scoring opportunities.
